Rachael Sauders, Age at Work Director at Business in the Community explains why she's positive about the new Minister for Pensions.
One of the interesting general election campaign announcements was the Conservative’s unveiling of Dr Ros Altmann as a minister in the event of their win. Post result, she is now installed as Minister for Pensions, ready to sort out our later life financial provision and champion our ageing population.
Ros has a strong personal track record, as a Director General of Saga, an economist, and pensions campaigner.
I met her for the first time in her role as the government’s Older Workers Business Champion. As a member of her steering group, I saw her push hard for co-ordinated action across government on later life working.
Business in the Community, Age at Work’s recent launch of the Missing Million – Recommendations for Action report builds on Ros’s own report, and calls on government, as well as business, to drive change. I am looking forward to seeing the impact Ros will now have in the corridors of power.
